Mountains Ancient Temple based on photogrammetry content could give you a realistic, believable world. But you can always crank it up to a more fantasy style with a proper lighting setup. This example you can find on our demo map. Immersive and atmospheric level and dungeons environment is what brings fantasy games to the next level. The map is huge and contains a few different samples join in one long walkthrough. It’s the biggest map we did. We hope it will be useful for you.

Technical Details
Be aware that Unreal 5 now has Lumen enabled by default. We still support a more game-ready pipeline, and you should disable this feature in your project settings to get results like our screenshots for 5.0. We added support for Lumen and Nanite with version 5.1+. Could look a little different than the original. You can check DEMO to see the differences.

Materials have just a few base materials to control the whole map in one place. It will be useful to merge materials with your one project if needed. To save memory, we used roughness from albedo and used that extra memory space to better resolution of other textures.

I almost dread the release of a new asset pack from these guys and the inevitable hole in my wallet that ensues. Really happy with every one i have purchased, and this is no exception. Very professional results. The rock cliffs are particularly good in the pack, i had a hard time finding suitable rocky cliff assets suitable for cave networks, these ones work great and produces better cave results than packs i purchased designed as caves. The only minor issues i found was the bats are pretty underwelming, and i get that annoying fallback mesh shadow issue when using hardware lumen that makes blocky shadows, but thats more of an engine limitation really

The environment design is expansive and has a lot of assets to use in other situations. I feel like the screenshots are not doing it justice, the level is very big.

The example template is massive. I think i have never seen this before. Very good ideas, and good pipelines for giving ideas for set up an environment.

My ask would be that any future updates still include 4.27 game ready assets, rather than ditching for lumin and nanite 5.1+ only. Also, the only thing that does seem to behave weirdly on mobile is the interactive foilage system, so if that could be improved on Mobile that’d be awesome!

As already mentioned, this has a Tomb Raider feel to it…which is a nice welcome bonus towards AAA quality. I’d be fine with either 2 or 3 in the selection for the next update…but lean towards Prefabs presently.

For the 10 review bonus it’d be cool to see this environment inside a sort of cave environment rather than open sky. That or more prefabs. We always love prefab bps.

I would like more lighting options as a Rpg Fantasy and more rocks. I notice the levels are streaming in game? Correct! There are like 6 or 7 levels that are streaming to make the size of the level for a total of 4096 x 4096? It would be great to add a extra blank starter level. So the player can start somewhere on the starter level before visitng the caves or dungeons. Unless there is a way to expand and add extra landscapes? I would like to add extra landscapes such as the Medival ruins asset. But need some documentation on how to add levels to the already made demo asset. It would be great so players can add extra level to the game.

Besides great Khmer-style assets, the demo map has got dozens if not hundreds beautiful places and hips of stunning details. I only may wish that more rainforest trees and volumetric animated clouds would be included.
For anyone having problem loading the demo level with “Out of video memory trying to allocate (…)” error, see this fix:
What you need to do is to change in DefaulEngine.ini “r.ReflectionCaptureResolution” from 2048 to 512.
I vote for:
1.different lighting scenario, preferably as complete sky+clouds+light system.

About Using This Pack In a Project
I was wondering, does the asset pack come with the option to use the entire level as it was assembled and put together in the demo? For example if I just want to add a playable character with custom animations and gameplay systems to the actual Temple Ruins level from the demo.
With how amazing this whole environment looks and how fitting it is for a prototype demo of one of my fantasy games, I kept having this question in the back of my mind before going ahead and buying it hahaha

Too bright inside the cave
Hi!
I’ve got an issue with wall meshes, especially withthe mesh SM_ BigRock_0404. when I want to build along hall, it seems like this mesh lets some light through. I can make the space darker by placing the plane above it to create the shade, but it is very inconvinient. Do you know what could be the problem?

Probably it’s open mesh. You can easily make group of rock + plane and place over the world. If You need it from both side, I would recommend make new Packed level actors and propagate over the world ;)

Please check the documentation about physical surfaces. You should define it in your project settings and restart the editor. Or just unplug them in a player blueprint. Everything in the documentation :)

Can’t set Engine Scalability
Hi, awesome pack. I plan to use it in my game demo. But there’s one thing I can’t figure out. When I try to change graphics settings using unreal engine’s default settings. It doesn’t work. I even try to change it in game and it still doesn’t work. It automatically goes back to default graphics settingss. Can you help me with this one ? Thanks

Character not moving
Hello,
i added the project to a blank project, set the default game mod to bp_ThirdPersonGameMode_SF, uploaded the .ini file in engine>input and when i press play it gives me 3 compile error abour characther and torch. The characther is not moving, keyboard and mouse.

I assume it was about defining physic surfaces in project settings. We should have it in our documentation :)
And mouse movement is interesting. My guess is – it was a changed speed movement for PAD.

I have resolved the issue. Another question, though, when i play the game, altough i have 160+ fps, the mouse movement are very sloppy! Any advice to have a smoother movement?

I don’t understand Adam’s reply to my path tracing question. It didn’t solve my problem.
I see there are effects like waterfall, fog etc, if I activate path tracing, will those work right out of the box or will I have to make tweaks in order for them to look good?

Sorry, I was trying to know what you need to know :) We never “special” prepare a package for path tracing because we didn’t know its requirements. We know on the other hand that some people tested our assets with path tracing successfully. But did they need to do some additional work? Unfortunately, I don’t know.
If you have some time would be great to describe what you expect from such a package. Any link to a good source of knowledge about that is appreciated. We will try to consider that in our pipeline.

Do you have a version where the big rocks are closed and not hollowed from the bottom?
I like your assets, but my game is an open-world game where the character can climb onto any rock. It’s pretty easy for the player to climb to a perspective where they can see the bottom of the rock is not closed.

If you really need it from every side I would make one closed rock on scene based on original once -> then merge it in editor (RBM), save the pivot of original rock and then replace all rock you already used. Should be rather easy if you already have some setup to save.

Can’t render
Whenever I try to render, it only shows your menu jpeg instead. That discord link below doesn’t lead to anything. how can I fix this, I’ve never had this problem trying to render before.

Hi, we need to add this section to the documentation finally. The easiest way to delete the menu is to go to the level Blueprint, select all, and delete. After that, you need to change the streaming method of the light scenario (“Levels” window) by simply right-clicking “Change streaming method -> always loaded”.
If you have problems with this, write us an e-mail or contact us on Discord, and we will send you screenshots of how to do it.

Remove menu
Hi. Your map is phenomenal and I’m currently making modifications! But whenever I try to play the level, I’m taken to the main menu and cannot move once I press ‘G’. I would like the map to exist on it’s own without these extra things. How do I remove?

Hello..
Like most packs I’ve purchased & also being new to Unreal. I’ve been able to alter things from the “demo” to my liking & then save out a new level. Then create a cinematic from there. Everything looks beautiful. Basically.. many things in your demo were deleted & saved as a new level, ect. My issue arrises when I click simulate I get ThirdPerson_BP compiling errors & everything shifts to your “main demo” . Question: Now that I’ve created my own level. Can I simply delete the whole demo folder & all will be o.k? Just don’t want too lose anything. Thanks!
Edit. So I’ve deleted the Third Person & Manniquin folder & no longer get the compiling errors. But still when I click “Simulate”. Everything shifts from my level to your “Main Demo”. Simple question. When I click simulate on my new level created. How do I make it no longer tied to your demo ?

Ok, if you copy the whole demo map that all the controls of how levels and widgets are loaded are in the Persistent blueprint. There you can disconnect all fades, menus, and sublevels you don’t need :)

I’m sure it’s something simple. I’ve created my own level from the demo. Deleted many things. Looks great. Then, I created a level sequence from that level. I added an animal blueprint to the scene & clicked simulate to view the animal animations before a final cinematic render & this is where I get blueprint compile errors. The waterfall dissapears in the distance. It was taking me to the demo “Menu” after clicking simulate but I deleted the menu folder & atleast now it stays on my level. But.. as long as I do not simulate. My cinematic looks beautiful. It’s as if it’s still trying to play the main demo that came with the package.

Not sure if understand correctly. Generally deleting all demo folders should be possible without any problems – that’s the idea of that folder. If you still have any connections maybe you duplicate something from that folder(map, menu, etc.). Worth to check your default game mode.

I converted the package to 5.1.3 and have no problems with it. It’s a fantastic package and the assets are first rate, I strongly recommand it. The creator is also quick to respond when contacted and is very helpfull, which is a plus.

thank you! We are still working with full support for Unreal 5.1 with all new futures. Right now we made only a small update for this scene for version 5.0 with a standard light pipeline (baked). Please be patient, we have to work with all updates for our packages in parallel. We are also working on new ones.
We don’t want to change to Lumen+Nanite quickly, the quality must satisfy us and you :)

Bat Trigger
I’m having isues using the bat trigger, I set the trigger in the level, set the begin overlap to my character and nothing happens. Could you please help me? Thanks

For the fast answer, I would say trigger and the bats should be on same sublevel. Please check our demo map. Also in the trigger properties you should pick what particles should start working when overlapping. We will add this to the documentation soon.

5.1 update?
Your previous answer didn’t really help. Can you please update this to 5.1 so it works out of the box without me needing to do fixes that can be avoided. I’m also in your Discord Tbjbu2#0001, let me know once you’ve got an update.

It’s a bit more complicated, unfortunately. 5.1 will be with nanite and lumen support. 5.0 will stay with the standard pipeline. We will fix the problem also with 5.0 for those who wanted stay with the standard lighting pipeline and migrate the project to 5.1 by yourself. Work to mention there is a big chance that Epic will fix that with 5.1.1 hotfixes also. We will see. It’s still not the full version of the engine.
For a few weeks, we are in the middle of the update process but I will try to figure out some solution for you. Probably I will send you a screen with modified material to work with 5.1. I hope it helps in your situation.
I will also publish that in our DISCORD if anyone will be interested.

Hello, probably it’s the same problem as with Cambodia temple. Epic change max texture samples. You can unplug some material functions and it should work :)

so i fire this up in 427
i tried this in 427 and after it starts in viewport just hangs there
i click to change mannequinn and while it works i get a massive log file with tons a errors
how am i to solve the errors cause your mannequin dont move after that fade in and maybe a doc what your doing wiht that level blueprint might help

About demo-map size is hard to say. It’s full of detailed paths (like on a walkthrough). But for sure it’s not big as an open-world map. In editor fits into a box around 400x400m. I see no problems to expand it – high rocks and caves are pretty good to occlude and streaming levels :)

When will this be updated to support Lumen and Nanite? I was hoping to get some of your products during the Black Friday Sale, but it seems everything is a bit outdated and nothing seems to support Lumen and Nanite and UE5.1/5.2

Hard to say. We have a lot of problems with UE5.1 for now. Additionally, we want to make a bigger update to properly support Nanite and Lumen.
The first package will be Lost Temple Cave. We also working on Medieval Fantasy Ruins and urban packages.

It will but we want to do this in a proper way. Expect some remeshing, relighting, improvements, and changes. For example, because Unreal doesn’t support tesselation we added heigh field maps. But we aren’t happy with the results. With update, we want to delete this and remesh all grounds to have nanite, and lumen but in proper quality :)
Lumen still doesn’t support some features and we need to do this carefully to not destroy the original effect :) I hope we will handle it.
All changes will be for versions 5.0(small improvements) and 5.1(nanite, lumen). All previous versions will stay with the standard pipeline.

Is there a way to add vertex painting for the rocks in order to add more moss?

Probably you can try our vertex pain base material. But for better results on rocks and control over the effect, I would suggest make your own custom material for that.

Has this been updated to work with Unreal Engine 5.1 and also work with Nanite and Lumen?

In the next few days we should have a “stable” version of 5.1 with the standard pipeline and we will release it.
In the next few weeks, we should release a version that supports lumen and nanite. This release will replace the “stable 5.1” version. All support versions 4.25-5.0 will remain with the standard pipeline without lumen and nanite.
I hope that answers your question. Generally from version 5.1 we want to start using only Nanite and Lumen pipelines. By the end of the year, we want to adapt all our packages to this :)

We want to fix all problems that came up with 5.1 version. For now, we have some struggles with effects and translucent shaders. We hope we will handle it in the next few days.
Besides 5.1 should start changing our lighting and asset pipeline to nanite and lumen. I’m not sure you expect that change. If not I advise upgrading version 5.0 to 5.1 by yourself and migrating content to your project.

Objects not appearing at a distance
Hello! I love this environment so much.
I’ve been trying to make a cinematic with it and the temple inside the cave doesn’t load at a certain distance then appears once I get close enough. I tried playing with LOD settings but I am new to unreal engine and not sure if I’m doing it right hahaha.
Would you happen to have any suggestion how I can make all the objects and the temple stay spawn or unhidden from a far distance?

All your packs look amazing, I can’t help but imagine how photoreal all these will look with Unreal 5 tech.
When will you start developing for Nanite and Lumen?.
Masked materials support is coming next month with 5.1.
Personally, I’d love more polys, no masked materials anyway, cinematic centric maps? for those who don’t make games and just need ground breaking quality not FPS?
Will you upgrade your older packs as well?
(Nanite, Lumen ,Chaos, Niagara, and even 8k Topaz textures upscalling )
I’m dreaming of : Scans Factory cinema division!:)
These type of demands will only increase and eventually take over game map demands.

A lot of customers ask about Nanite and Lumen and our answer is the same: when it will be ready, most people will use that and performance will be much closer to the standard pipeline. For now, it’s still not as popular as we wish for.
But to try and check the market a bit we are preparing something new! More info soon on our social media :)

Sorry 4.24 was released at the end of 2019. This is a huge lap. We try to work on older versions of the engine but not that old.
To be honest, in the future we will be forced to move to even higer version of the engine to support new pipelines(Chaos, Niagara, Nanite, Lumen etc.). Probably next package we will start with 4.27 version. The industry so much wants Nanite and Lumen that we just will adapt our pipelines to higher and higher versions. Of course, we will have to stay with support versions for at least one year back. Probably we will also keep this policy with two separate builds – one with a standard pipeline and one with lumen/nanite. I hope near future will bring more answers :)

Generally, you don’t need any plugins except Virtual Heightfield Mesh plugin. And only If you want to simulate tesselation on UE5.

Hello Mate! awesome pack, quick question, the volumetric fog Mat, wont compile, just keeps freezing up my ue5 lol..any ideas as to why this is? sorry if this is a stupid question :D just wondered :)

If you asking about asset VolumetricFog_01 then we found out that on UE5 it generates problems when cooking. That asset was additional from previous packages and we didn’t use it on these maps. You can simply delete it.
With the next update, we will also probably just delete this asset from this package.

Of course, everything you saw on the walkthrough is included :) Bats have also a simple system to run out of fire guide – example here. You can easily set up it also to run out of fire torch :). In addition to that, the bats can also be set up for simple scary actions. You can also see it in the walkthrough video :) here

To be honest I love our maps with top-view. It needs some improvements, adjustments and some camera system to hide meshes colliding with the camera but… don’t know what to say more :D Love it! :)

About the question – we have our system for foliage. It’s simpler but very optimal at the same time. Foliage also bends with player movement :)
